LIVE ROCK CRITIC 45

 LIVE ROCK CRITIC   45

It has been some time since I posted material on this site. I reviewed many performances and as I reviewed I wrote but unfortunately it was just another bad re-run. The bands were mediocre, the music was uninspiring and the reviews which I wrote seemed so much the same as reviews I wrote in the past.

I watched bands on Saturday Night Live and Seth Myers and the numerous Public Broadcasting System live performances and I did not find a single outstanding performance which I could point out and say "This is how its done." It did not happen there was no such performance.

I wrote this piece a few weeks ago:  Paucity, the word which describes the gamut of talent in today's music offerings. No insight, no talent, no charisma no rock.

Arcade Fire is the best Canadian band says CBC Music about circus sideshow Arcade Fire. I wonder what the reason is behind the strange rankings posted by CBC Music. Is it possible that the way you win best band is to have a phalanx of sycophants hammer on the input of the ratings system engine. Is this winning accomplished not through music but through obtaining votes by using the crowd or herd of susceptible people to support you? Is this process accomplished  through multiple votes by individuals?

Canada Day celebrations provide a window on Canadian bands and performers or is it just who would turn up? Here comes Canada Day Music:     Mark Dupree "Nous Sommes Les Memes" Was a mass of mush. Dupree tries to get the audience to clap along and they do not. Dupree was afflicted as well with a case of the oohs  ooo ooh, which I believe performers use when they can not properly bridge or sustain their songs without having a spacer.

Gord Ramford "Where a Farm Used to Be" Gord"s lyrics are intelligible and wry his band is quit funky electric, one of the best Canada Day bands I've seen.

The Jerry Cans, a northern country band performed "Mama Quta"

Jonas and the Massive Attraction, ooh ooh, the rather good band is still there. Many of the performers are backed by the same ensemble. Jonas roars, he has a good voice. His guitarist on the Les Paul, not so good.

Stephen Harper wishes a Happy Canada Day. Hey, this is not Christmas. I have been working on a couple of Stephen Harper videos. They are posted at the top of the page.

Oh my God, here is my expected low point, "Keisza", if I have her right, "Sound Of A Women". Horrible tuneless screeching with terrible piano. Horribly over done eye make-up. Harper looks like he can't wait to leave.

Magic is on next, Reggae Fusion. No Way No, again almost no music. The master of ceremonies says they are successful and popular, wonders never cease, and again I wonder: How are these ratings decided? I heard one of the weakest useless guitar solos ever. Like Keisza, repeat repeat repeat the same crap statement over and over. The next band Rude, is also neither symphonic nor even musical, very bad.

There is some bogus character to all the bands.

There was a special bogus loser rapper Kanye West at the Pan Am Games opening. Some persons describe his temper tantrum as a result of microphone failure. I am pretty sure that something went wrong with his backing track or was the entire performance a lip sync? I will try to post the video and just for fun I will post my "Donald Trump with and without the combover". I made the head.
