DUNE HAS A VERY SPARSE PLOT. A NUMBER OF STUPID FIGHTS ARE TO DESIGNED TO PROVIDE DRAMA AND SUSPENSE BUT THEY DO NOT.
I AM A FAN OF SCIENCE FICTION FILMS. THERE ARE FEATURES OF INNOVATION AND ELABORATE ALIEN TABLEAUX AND FUTURISTIC MACHINERY AND SPACECRAFT IN THE MOVIES I ENJOYED THE MOST.
So what was missing from DUNE? Maybe that is it, "So what?" Villeneuve relies on ominous science fictiony music with nothing happening that is of the genre, the scene could be from any kind of movie. The much touted as up for awards film did win a number of awards but not the important, am I right? Best Picture and Best Adaptation of a screenplay or a novel.
