MY CULTURE WAS NOT TREATED WITH RESPECT

THE REVERENCE FOR THE REMNANTS OF NATIVE CULTURE IS IN STARK CONTRAST WITH THE LACK OF RESPECT FOR CONTEMPORARY NATIVES AND FOR MY MODERN CULTURE AND ITS ART WRITING AND MUSIC.

When an ancient burial site is unearthed as modern citizens work for their livelihood, everything must stop to preserve the cultural remains of a long gone society and citizens.

When the same authorities and government and its servants encounter contemporary culture such as my Art, Writing and Music they feel they should attack and limit and make dangerous and TRY TO EXPUNGE MY CULTURE.

THIS IS NOT JUST A MORAL AND ETHICAL OUTRAGE. THE BEHAVOIR IS NOTHING LESS THAN A CRIMINAL OFFENCE. IT OCCURS TO ME THAT THE SAME BODY OF LAW THAT PROTECTS THE CULTURE OF LONG DEAD NATIVES MUST OFFER EVEN MORE PROTECTION TO MY LIVING ART, WRITING ANG MUSIC.

ENABLED BY CNN, ALICA KEYS ENGAGED IN A MEDIOCRE POLITICALLY CORRECT PANDERING, GETTING IN ON THE PUBLIC ATTENTION TO COVID 19.

Besides the Opportunism and Pandering, the monotonous cadence of the music bespeaks a lack of inspiration and lack of care, tapping out a metronome beat.

I was struck by the profound lack of vocal range exhibited and still, despite the lack of range or any attempt at vocal theatrics or pyrometrics, Alica Keys voice cracked.

I would ask anybody who will or did see the performance, likely it will be played and replayed, featured and slices will be spotted, is this actually not really singing, or just a form of singingish speech like the Talking Blues or Rap?

LOVE THE SOUND

OF YOUR OWN VOICE, IS THAT NOT WHAT IT IS?

Chris Martin from Coldplay is right into the sound of his voice and grimace.

Saturday Night Live hosted Coldplay. The band is shut down to a muted 1910 Fruitgum Company tinkle. Pectoralz originally, Chris displays pecs and arms.

Oh My Lord does he ever get emotionally into his acting as he vocalizes. Do I remember correctly that Chris originally thought of fronting a band as an actor.

I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT JAN ARDEN WAS TERRIBLE, VIRTUALLY WITHOUT ANY REDEEMING QUALITY IN GENRE, PERFORMANCE OR APPEARANCE

I have written and spoken about how hard it is to do a quality recording or video without the expensive equipment and technicians. That has changed lately it seems as I phones are used to create credible sound and video recordings.

The working from a bare bones studio setup requires a good and mistake free performance and you have to get the pitch and cadewhich nce and vocal range right.

Jan Arden has a YouTube performance with the Vocal not on key and there is an audible straining as she attempts to pitch together with the music which is also no particular Bowl of Cherries.

Jan Arden was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recently which makes me very dubious about how this happens.

SHAKIRA AT THE SUPERBOWL

I WILL NOT POST ANY PICTURES, GOOGLE SHAKIRA   AT THE SUPERBOWL LIV HALFTIME SHOW IN 2020.

I was incredibly impressed with Shakira's dance performance. The skipping about to music does not come easily. The obvious physical conditioning was surpassed by the seemingly effortless dance moves, none of the silly running around; that woman danced every moment with grace and energy and flawless following of the changing musical rythyms, except for the pelvic thrusts.

Shakira's vocal was really good, she can sing that is for sure; I rarely say this. 

I could not find any flaw or lacking with the Bands except for the goofy Rapper. 

Amidst all of that perfection I winced at the overemphasized pelvic thrusting and squatting or whatever, I knew it would prompt some people to detract from the performance because of crass pelvic pumping. 

I panned Taylor Swift for vulgar open legged squats which were clumsy and unattractive and grosser than the Jay Lo and Shakira squats. None of the Squats really fitted in with the music and choreography. 

I found many of Shakira's and a few of Jay Lo's dance routines very attractive and feminine and sexy but that is not what really stuck with me about the performance. I have not Rollerbladed for years now but I bet the wide open dancing feels like rollerblading. It must be so cool to be able to dance like Shakira does. I am mostly critiquing Shakira`s dance, when I listen and view again I will pay more attention to the Music and the Vocals and to Jay Lo also.

The Shakira dance performance was so perfect, so strong and so accurate. I am going to watch the half time show again as entertainment, it is a different experience when you view a performance as a critic rather than as an audience.

ROCK RULES

I WAS THINKING OF RULES WHICH GOVERNED OUR BEHAVIOR  AS MARIJUANA USERS AND SCORERS.

THERE WAS TO BE NO FREAKING OUT ON PEOPLE OR ON THE POLICE. OLDER SMOKERS CONVINCED US THAT ANY BAD OR CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR WOULD BE A SOURCE OF UNWANTED ATTENTION BY AUTHORITIES. AS MARIJUANA AND HASH CONSUMERS ANY OF US COULD EASILY BE ARRESTED AND JAILED. WE WERE NOT TO DRIVE LOUD OR DILAPITATED VEHICLES TO ANY PLACE WHERE WE MIGHT SCORE MAJIJUANA OR MOSTLY HASH THEN, DRESSING INCONSPICOUSLY AND MOST OF ALL NOT CONFLICTING WITH POLICE.

This reminded me of `` Rock Rules``, a series of guidelines which were designed to keep music dynamic interesting and moving. I will write about this subject after I read my notebook from 1990 or so. Many of the rules developed from eliminating the tendancies which undisciplined musicians and under rehearsed musicians fell under the influence of while playing live, writing or jamming on old tunes or working out new compositions.

Keeping the beat and keeping the speed up and not digressing and failing to return to the root progression and composing leads relavent to the melody and the lyrics just to start with.

I have to write something else now which I will post as the rules of Behavior in the Marijuana Culture might have been useful to Musicians as well. Perhaps it would have kept some of the Rowdiest out of trouble.

MARIJUANA RULES

I AM ATTACKED, ACCUSED OF HAVING BROUGHT MY OWN POLICE AND BY-LAW PROBLEMS ON MYSELF.

I DID NOT DO THAT, I CAREFULLY FOLLOWED ``MARIJUANA  RULES``

Many of the Rules were common sense and involved obeying laws and social conventions. In addition, dress codes and vehicle operating behaviours were formulated and justified. There was a prohibition against buying stolen goods or being involved in any way with Hard Drugs like Cocaine or Heroin.  There was to be no violence, particlarly no violence against women. No hitting them back.

Of course an unenforceable code is what the Rules were. If you broke the rules your ability to associate with other Smokers and to score could be curtailed. That was about it, however, as violence and extortion were also prohibited.

MANY PEOPLE BROKE MANY OF THE RULES AND SOME GOT THEMSELVES OR SOMEONE ELSE  ARRESTED AND  EVEN IMPRISONED. I BROKE THE RULES WHEN I WAS YOUNG BY DRIVING WILDLY AND FAST ON MY MOTORCYCLES. I ALWAYS TRIED TO RUN AWAY FROM, NEVER TO BE A TOUGH GUY WITH POLICE.

HERE ON VANCOUVER ISLAND I CONTINUED TO FOLLOW THE SAME RULES AS I HAD FOLLOWED IN VANCOUVER WHERE POLICE WROTE BACK TO THE SOOKE RCMP AS THEY SEARCHED FOR DIRT ON ME, `` THE ONLY THING KNOWN ABOUT LINDON COLLARD IS THAT HE IS A MUSICIAN``.  

EVERY ``TOUGH GUY `` AND `` HE HATES `` ACCUSATION WAS MADE UP HERE ON VANCOUVER ISLAND WHICH I MOVED TO IN 1979 AND SELF-FINISHED A DERELICT UNFINISHED AND STRIPPED BY VANDALS HOME FOR MY WIFE AND CHILDREN, AND ME WHEN I WOULD NOT BE AWAY WORKING AT MUSIC AND ART AND WRITING AND VIDEOGRAPHY. 

IRRATIONALLY MY EX-WIFE THE ``HE HATES`` INVENTOR SAID TO POLICE, ``ALL HE CARES ABOUIT IS HIS MUSIC``.  I DIDN`T LOVE HER OR I WOULD HAVE GIVEN UP MUSIC, FOR HER. SHE SAID ``I NEED A SLAVE, WHO WOULD DIE FOR ME LIKE THAT (SNAPS FINGERS.) I SWEAR, I ONLY SOUGHT OUT WOMEN FOR SEX OR WORK. I WAS NOT  LOOKING FOR AN IRRATIONAL NARCISSISTIC OVERLORD. 

I RIGOROSLY OBJECT TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO CONTROL ME IN ANY WAY WHO IS NOT SUPPLYING ME WITH A VALUABLE BENEFIT.

I DID NOT CARE FOR OR ABOUT POLICE, WHO I THOUGHT WERE DANGEROUS JERKS AND THE SAME WITH ALL THE WOMAN`S SUPREMACY. I DID NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR IMAGINED POWERS AND NARCISSISM  AND THEY HATED ME FOR IT. IF ONLY ALL THOSE FOOLS WOULD JUST HAVE REALLY NOT CARED ABOUT ME AND LEFT ME AND MY PROPERTY AND MY PROSPECTS ALONE FOR ME TO DO.  NOTHING THAT WAS MINE BELONGED TO ANYONE ELSE. 

I met a couple of women at the ``Princess Mary`` Friday Night dance in 1997. 

I OVERHEARD THEM,``SO WELL DRESSED, SO POLITE``

I WAS STILL FOLLOWING THE ``MARIJUana  rules".

                                                                                 

CRASS MOTIVATIONS

I WRITE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED AND I COMPOSED WHAT I HEARD, WHICH WAS THE SOUND OF THE CITY.

What is it which motivated us as young men to create roaring and screaming and crashing. Whining and wailing and booming and banging? THE CITY did.

Unless we were attending at a Commercial Musician Mill we were not composing and playing and practising to get money. We were authoring our description and commentary. Years later the situation was different and I and some Musicians attempted to gain employment and Royalties.  

We did not play was not to get attention, ``hey look at me`` I was recemtly told I is what I was seeking. That is not what learning to play is about. It is more like a bird learning to fly. It is exhilarating, precarious, it is intimidating, it is fragile and so is the novice musician. Even the most talented musicians have trepidation and uncertainty as they offer new material through publication.

I have also been condemned for not knowing how to play my expensive guitars what about the guitar on these peices of music. None of my guitars were Expensive when I bought them. I find that different guitars can inspire the writing of different tunes which you can then play on more guitars. Fullblown Schitzophrenic was written on the Roland GR 707 Synthesiser Guitar but I am playing it on a Les Paul Black Beauty with a lot of sliding the pick up and down selected strings.

In that many of us who composed and performed music received no reward nor even a wage for our work, to be condemned as attention seekers is atrocious.

DO NOT INTERFERE WITH ANY ART NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU HATE IT

CAPRICIOUS JUSTICE

In Canada and I am sure people in other countries would like the same justice, we expect that if we stay out of our neighbors business and property and don't make any mistakes driving there should be no way we find ourselves being ground down by the wheels of a justice juggernaut driven by angry uncaring and unaccountable individuals who can make irrational decisions which cause anguish, property or monetary loss or even imprisonment. Instead we have: CAPRICIOUS JUSTICE

ALL HAMPERING IS MALFEASANCE

NO SCREWING ANYONE UP, THAT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE.THERE ARE NO ENABLING TECHNICALITIES WHICH EXCUSE OR PERMIT DOING BAD THINGS TO PEOPLE TO IMPEDE THEM.

REGARDLESS OF HOW OFFENDED YOU ARE AT ANOTHER PERSON'S OVERWEENING AMBITION OR PERSONAL DEVOTION TO AN ENDEAVOR YOU DO NOT APPROVE OF YOU CANNOT DO A SINGLE THING TO IMPEDE THAT PERSON. YOU ARE NOT IN DANGER FROM ANOTHER PERSONS ACTIONS THAT DO NOT HARM YOU, YOU DO NOT GET TO STOP THEM UNLESS THEY ARE DAMAGING YOU.

It is really easy to attack an Artist Writer or Musician, it seems that all that is required that you do not " Like " the Artists work or do not approve of a writers views. 

There is a complaint that we who strive to write to compose, to perform are trying to get attention. I admit that in 1965 I took up guitar because I thought I could meet sex partner women at parties. That only happened once. The very svelte and charming South African White Girl emerged from her bedroom in a skin tight dancer's costume and could you ever see that white ass stretch the leotard to transparency. BANG BANG BANG on the West End Vancouver Apartment and this guy with a Strange Accent barges in screaming that she and I had not been properly introduced so I grabbed my Kay Jumbo and left.

TO THE UNINITIATED: THE PRACTICE OF ANY ART IS AKIN TO FLYING. THE JOY OF GETTING A PROJECT OFF THE GROUND AND IF POSSIBLE PUBLICALLY DISPLAYING IT IS WHY WE DO IT.

THE PUBLIC PRACTICE OF MUSIC DOES BRING A GREAT FEELING OF FLYING. THE TRAPEZE ARTIST, THE WINGSUIT FLYER, WHITEWATER RACER MUST BE WILD. PHYSICAL MOVEMENT CAN BE ADDED TO MUSIC BY DANCING THAT IS EXCITING.

WE ARE NOT FRAUDS THEIVES OR SERIAL KILLERS WE ARE LOVERS OF DOING THE EXTRAORDINARY.  WHY WOULD PEOPLE BE OFFENDED AND TRY TO    STOP IT FROM HAPPENING IN SO MANY WAYS?

QUIET IN THE BUSH

I THOUGHT I HAD TO LIVE REMOTELY IN ISOLATION OR AT LEAST INSULATED TO PRACTICE MUSIC. I SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN THE HEART OF THE CITY TO PRACTICE MY ARTS BUT I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO LIVE THERE AFTER MY MOTOR VEHICLE INJURY. IT IS QUIET IN THE BUSH, TOO QUIET, I AM HERE ALONE.

I was not the first artist or musician or writer to leave the city for a rural life.

I was not the first to attempt the patrician life style with a rural acreage and a crib in the City.

Live Rock Critic is not only about Music this time. LRC is about getting out into strange places to meet strange people doing strange things- experiencing strange sounds and sights and thoughts. 

There is not a lot more to say about the ordinary, it was touted and portrayed and adulated  when it came along and whatever it is was new, now it is part of the ordinary. Like Streamline Cars going effortlessly by at a hundred miles an hour, seamless, shining, cutting the wind, Whoosh! 

The City of Vancouver was loud and the din went on and on. And loud Electric Music seared and crackled and roared and thundered and pealed the whirling tones of the Organ's Leslies. My Screaming Harmonicas and Roaring Trains and thundering Motorcycles were a part of Tthe City of Vancouver. I was a part of the City plying my trades at my Jewellery Factory.

Just outside Town in Delta musicians from the City would attend the ``Space Jam `` on a lot of Sundays. I had lay there paralyzed or virtually paralyzed for many a year, not all day every day, but when I look back, I did a lot of reclining with my legs over a table, churlish perhaps, but it was that or lay down for most of 1970 to 1974. My Partner and me built a Jewellery Factory in the Heart of the City of Vancouver and he began to gamble and philander and his wife philandered.

Everything blew up and there were tears and I was accused of `Having Evil Inside Knowledge`` which I did not share. I, innocent and unknowing as always, sigh, I Cast Silver and Gold and Platinum into Rings and Pendants and Jewelled Asylum Racers. Very Vancouver with my Precious Metal Hookas and ``Certainly, Sir, we can make you anything you wish to imagine`.  I gave it up to build a House for the Family at Otter Pointand the Hissing and Hatred without end began.

I tried to keep  up a presence in Vancouver but I unfortunately had to buy a home which was new and unfinished and I began my years of mostly alone working on the Family Home Alone. In a Surfit of Tranfered Hatred I was living in the house of the former owner and they hated me.The house had been stripped and trashed earlier and was robbed while I owned it and then BURNT UP.

My Criminal Psychopath Wife took over the new home construction, letting the Contract with a man (Grown as a Tequila Worm!) who superintender the deforestastion of borders or trees, the excavation of a hole to put the house in and the theft of all of the meadow`s topsoil.

Then  I was ``taken down``, all my assets were lost as Stronger FASTER SMARTER WIFE took over with her ``Major Business`` borrowing until I was hollowed out to nothing left of assets.

 Ì hate you, I hate all men..sign over  your assets or I will say you abused me and the children

PROTECTION FOR ARTISTS, WRITERS AND MUSICIANS IS NECCESSARY

I COULD NOT BUT THINK WHAT MALICE HAS BEEN DIRECTED AT MY ARTISTIC AND MUSICAL PURSUITS.

I was grinding coffee and I thought about how Law Enforcement exhibited Malice, not just to myself, but probably in my case it would have to do with a failure to accept that I can write and video if I want to. I did not neglect to have additional employment besides the Arts.

 

The way I set myself up in Vancouver BC with a job which could have a 75 hour month if I wanted to and I wanted to. I would work three weeks and take one week off, my back required that and I could do ten days of music and art. I was then free to pursue the Art of writing by having unusual experiences and travelling in interesting circles.During the five day work weeks, I would get off work at 9 pm on My Job starting at 4pm and I and the crew would have a real dinner hour at 6pm. This was ideal and would fit right in with playing Harmonica. I know it was 1970 when this ended but I continued the writing and musical pursuits and again and again, My Job would have been the perfect support to be able to work at the Arts.

I MADE IT SO CLEAR AS TO WHAT I WAS DOING. FOR YEARS I PRACTICED AND WROTE SONGS WITH THE INTENTION OF PERFORMING AND BEING EMPLOYED.

IT IS NOT RIGHT THAT MY MOTHER SHOULD FORBID A FORTY YEAR OLD TO SPEAK OF MUSIC TO ANYONE AND THAT MY WIFE WOULD SAY TO POLICE ``HE`S CRAZY, HE THINKS HE IS GOING TO BE A ROCK STAR``AND THE POLICE WOULD GET ON BOARD, SAYING I WAS CRAZY IN WRITING! ANOTHER TIME, A  RCMP SAID `` WE ARE GOING TO END THE FUN HERE``. YET ANOTHER TIME ``DO YOU JUST GO CRAZY AND PLAY.``

I cannot believe my own experience at times. I was crippled in an accident and lost my job at the CNR, which did not have to happen but there is Malicious Practice by Insurance Companies and their lawyers. Despite losing my corporate employment, I wanted to keep the writing and the music. What did Family, and later Police, expect me to do to do? With 20 years of music practice disacknowledged, my Mother wanted me to get a job at 7-11 while I had to squeeze in music two long weekends a month while paying damned extortion. I had to pay $475 per month to Mother on my wife`s business debt which I had refused to do but was forced to. I also had to pay $1000+ a month because I would not let my wife defraud Welfare. I was ordered to pay ``Under the Table``. That meant growing Marijuana and giving the Money to Mother and Andrew and Joanne. Francine probably ordered Andrew to do it and I had to give even more money to my wife and then ex-wife, secretly in cash for all of them.

A few years earlier, when the Wife ``Had Feelings `` and wanted her own ``Major Business`` I had to pay for it, install it, borrow a pile of money, work for ZERO PAY and then pay interest ``Under the Table``on the wife`s debt and the principal was taken from my inherited money from Albert, all that was left, after numerous relatives inserted their names on the will under mine, in different type, 10% or less, and from the half I would have gotten from Annette. Hundreds and hundreds of thousands of Dollars diverted, seized and then deductions for Betty Costs from the paltry remains.

MY ART AND MUSIC WERE NOT ONLY IGNORED AND MY INTENTIONS AS WELL BUT I THINK MY ART AND MY MUSIC MOTIVATED MALICIOUS ATTACKS ON ME. SURELY IF I WAS IMPOVERISHED I WOULD HAVE TO QUIT THE GRAND OVERWEENING ARTISTIC WORK!

I was kept from knowing about inheritances which the Family had changed to benefit them. I was deliberately put into debt when it was well known I would not borrow money. You think you are so smart I was told by my UGLY bloody sister we fixed you, regarding the hiding of mail and stealing inheritances.

DID MY ARTISTIC PURSUITS MOTIVATE MALICE AND ALSO CREATE A VULNERABILITY AS IF I WAS UNSTABLE AND DAMGEROUS BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS AN ARTIST AND A MUSICIAN, ``THOUGHT ``.

MUDEROUS MOVIES

BAD MESSAGES IN GRATUITOUS KILLING IN MOVIES

Probably there are viewers who enjoy the unnecessary killing in Murderous Movies.

There is a grim satisfaction as villains are punished and apprehended and when they are killed.

There are many situations where a combatant escapes from a large number of foes or dangerous adversaries, or cleverly assassinates an opposing leader but generally for pressing reasons.

I will admit that I do watch tacky Science Fiction. I like the Devices and Future Cities and Space Ships, Space Stations and Other Worlds. I was watching a similar genre of Film, "Predator". Some are pretty good, others not so much, there are a lot of "Predator" Films. It is relatively new, 2018, and I was struck by the casual and cavalier methods, reaction to and unnecessary nature of the killing. 

In one case a protagonist hero shoots a guard at a research facility in the eye with a tranqulizer gun killing him after the guard scoffed at the tranquilized gun.

A group of protagonists rush into a government facility and kill all the guards dramatically and with flair with throat slashing. Then they shoot one guard after another. I think: The guards only work there, cannot be doing evil personally.

Many guards are killed, like a mass shooting in a Mall or School, pop pop pop indiscriminately shooting one guard after another. Perhaps terrorists do murder like this, but rational people should find another way than mass murder to free someone or themselves. The Murdered are actually not to do with the Main Threat in the Film. There were perhaps other Aliens who would want the Alien prisoner. The "Predator Alien" is here on earth to kill all and sundry. The Murderous Movie is Violent and Combative but still the murder of the Guards  

ISA MURDEROUS MOVIE PRESENTATION, THE UNNECESSARY AND GRATUITOUS KILLING WILL GIVE SOME PEOPLE THE WRONG IDEAS ABOUT KILLING AND WILL ENNURE OTHERS TO SENSELESS KILLING.

ANIMAL KINGDOM MUSICAL SCORE

ANIMAL KINGDOM IS ENTERTAINING AND SURPRISING

This Post is about the musical score of minute 30 to minute 34 of Episode 12 of  Season Four of ANIMAL KINGDOM,   broadcast on Bravo so the minutes of incredible musical scoring may come earlier on Netflix or an "On Demand" service on Cable.

There is a possibility that the score is a well known piece of music and/or by a Famous Musician or Band, I do not possess much of an ability to remember who did what in the vast inventory of published music.

I think the Score is something I have not ever heard before, if I am right, or whatever is the case, the morphing of the tune and the changes in the guitar's overall tone and sound and feeling and the soaring and building of momentum, all flawless, without a hitch or a glitch. The entire band grinds and flies and growls to create a perfect symphony of exploding sound which flawlessly accompanies the visual component of the Season 4 Episode 12 minutes 30 to 34 on Bravo. The Plot is Grim, and the action is tense and low down but the music as well as enhancing the frantic mood and fear is a great little piece to listen to.
